My first day in Yangon I had to arrange transport and change US$ into local currency.
I went to a travel agent first and bought a airplane ticket to Heho (near Inle Lake) for the next day.
The airline is Asian Wings and the ticket costs 109 US$ (OW)
Then I changed money at a local bank and got 815 kyats for 1 US$.
After shopping downtown I took a trip on the Circle train, see below a video compilation of this trip.
Thumbnails of pics are below (click will lead to picassa album)
I went downtown and bought some supplies at Ruby Mart, a big supermarket with a good selection of food and drink.
As this was near the Main Railway Station in Yangon I went there and was planning to take the Circle Line that runs around the whole city. A ticket costs 1 US$ !
Some nice scenery around but also a lot of rubbish (plastic waste) near the tracks at many places !
The train was not too crowded so it was bearable but it was a bumpy ride sometimes !
We left the train near University Avenue as we wanted to see the residence of a former Nobel Piece Prize Winner who once had house arrest but now is free and active in politics.
